NANO-SIM 3D project is divided into two areas with different lines of research and aims the development of new nanocomposite materials based in metallic and thermoplastic matrixes. One of the areas of research is based on the development of new formulations, incorporating metallic matrix nanocomposites, for the production of innovative new molding components using additive manufacturing techniques. The other area of research intends the development of thermoplastic components using polymer matrix nanocomposites, this will allow the development of innovative new thermoplastic parts optimized in their most critical features. The solutions to be implemented in the scope of this project will be in the frontline of future applications in a wide range of industries (e.g., mobility, packaging, houseware, etc.). With an overall investment of 3.793.894,69€, this project is co-financed under Portugal 2020 Program in 3.037.303,13€ from European Regional Development Fund. NANO-SIM 3D project is a three years project, from December 2018 to November 2021, with Simoldes Aços as promoter, Simoldes Plásticos and CICECO from Aveiro University as co-promoters.

O ENEEM é um encontro que reúne cerca de 400 estudantes de engenharia mecânica provenientes de universidades e politécnicos de todo o país, tendo como principal objetivo promover o contacto dos estudantes com o mundo empresarial e a indústria, bem como, com a vanguarda da investigação no âmbito da sua área de estudo.
O Grupo Simoldes foi o Main Sponsor do evento que decorreu entre os dias 27 e 30 de Março de 2018 nos espaços da Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto.
Este evento permitiu a divulgação e networking com os visados, concedendo a oportunidade do Grupo expor a sua atividade e consequentemente captar a atenção de novos talentos.
O evento contou na Sessão de Abertura com a participação e intervenção do s/ Administrador Sr. António da Silva Rodrigues, que perante uma plateia de mais de 400 estudantes, lhes endereçou um discurso pleno de motivação, dedicação, perseverança e coragem para enfrentarem com sucesso o s/ futuro académico e profissional; contou ainda com palestras exclusivas dedicadas à temática da indústria de moldes e à realização de um Case Study promovido pelo Grupo Simoldes. Foram abordadas ainda outras temáticas como a Liderança e o Mental Coaching, a Programação Neurolinguística, Metodologias Lean/Melhoria Contínua, Engenharia Mecânica na Aeronáutica entre outros. Sem dúvida um evento recheado de sucesso e participação, com vantagens para ambas as partes.

| SIMI – Innovative Solutions in Multi-injection |

Project identification
The SIMI project's strategic goal is the technology development related to the manufacture of tools (molds) for multi-material injection processes. It focuses on a new and innovative solution from the companies MDA and SIMOLDES PLASTICOS, with the purpose to research and develop methods focused on the development of molding tools for the production of multi-material product production.
The project aims to obtain simpler molds, with less production time, lower maintenance costs and less susceptibility to error or malfunction. This new solution will be developed and tested using molds designed and manufactured according to the specific features of the products for the target markets, introducing in this industry specific know-how to design and manufacture molds. This knowledge will be developed and tested in an industrial environment based on two case studies oriented, one for the automotive sector, and the other one for houseware.
The use of different materials will eliminate any possible component assembly work. Another major objective is to achieve greater integration with the adjacent parts and components that perform different functions, such as, in one of the selected case studies - door panel - the rubber seal inside the glass.
The industrial advantages of this new solution allow us to predict gains in quality and productivity in the technology supply inducing an increase in the competitiveness of the companies.
